The ORNL DAAC has created a tool for finding relevant ORNL DAAC data sets that are used in published articles.

On the ORNL DAAC home page, users can select the Tools menu, then select Search by article DOI and enter the article's Digital Object Identifier (for example, doi:10.1016/j.envpol.2010.12.008 ). The tool queries the DAAC database and retrieves data sets that were used in the article. If no ORNL DAAC data sets were used in the article, the tool will provide links to five related data sets from the ORNL DAAC.

If available, links to advanced visualization and subsetting tools - the Spatial Data Access Tool (SDAT) and the THREDDS Data Server will be provided.

Additionally, the ORNL DAAC and science publisher Elsevier are now linking articles published on Elsevier's ScienceDirect website with the corresponding data sets archived in the ORNL DAAC. A banner link – in the right panel of the online journal article – under Applications and Tools – directly connects the user to the DAAC's DOI Search Results landing page for the data set.

The ORNL DAAC is a NASA-funded data center archiving and distributing terrestrial ecology and biogeochemical dynamics data.
