Dunne Soil Data Set

Submitted by ORNL DAAC Staff on

The ORNL DAAC now offers a data set entitled "Global Distribution of Plant-Extractable Water Capacity of Soil (Dunne)." The data set was added to the holdings in the Soil Collections on August 18, 2000.

Provided by K. A. Dunne and Cort J. Willmott, the new data set provides estimates for the global distribution of plant-extractable water capacity of soil, or the amount of water that can be extracted from the soil to fulfill plants' needs based on evapotranspiration. Estimates reflect the combined effects of soil texture, soil organic content, and plant root depth or profile depth.
