EDG to WIST Transition

Submitted by ORNL DAAC Staff on

In an ongoing effort to improve services to our customers, the ORNL NASA DAAC is pleased to announce that the Earth Observing System (EOS) Data Gateway (EDG) will be replaced in mid-2008, with WIST (Warehouse Inventory Search Tool) for the EOS Clearing House (ECHO). Although ORNL DAAC has transitioned from EDG to ECHO, and WIST is available for your immediate use, the complete transition of all EDG metadata for some EOS data providers is still in progress. We will notify you again, when all EOS data providers have completed the transition to ECHO and WIST.

ECHO is a metadata clearinghouse and order broker built by NASA's Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) which provides access to spatial and temporal metadata enabling the science community to exchange data and information. To learn more about ECHO see: http://www.echo.eos.nasa.gov/index.html. A summary of ECHO data holdings may be viewed at http://www.echo.nasa.gov/status/holdings/holdingsReport.shtml.

WIST is a means of accessing ECHO data holdings, and may be accessed at http://wist.echo.nasa.gov/. The WIST system provides a single interface through which users can find and order data from multiple participating archives. If you encounter difficulties accessing WIST, or have questions about ORNL DAAC Data Holdings, please do not hesitate to contact us via the USO link at the bottom of the ORNL DAAC HOME Page.
