The ORNL DAAC is hosting a two-part Environmental Data Management Best Practices Webinar on September 10, 11, and 12, 2013.
Our goal for this two-part webinar is to provide guidance on fundamental data management practices that investigators should perform during the course of data collection to improve the usability of their data sets. These practices will make data easier to analyze and share, especially within your group. There is no charge for this webinar.
When: |
Part 1 Tabular data |
Tuesday, September 10 at 2 pm EDT |
Part 2 Geospatial Data |
Wednesday, September 11 at 2 pm EDT |
Part 1- Tabular Data Topics:
- How to structure your data files
- How to define variables and units
- How to perform quality control
- How to develop data documentation so that others can find, understand, and use your tabular data.
Part 2- Geospatial Data Topics:
- How to prepare spatial data to support collaborative research
- Tools for spatial data analysis
- How to organize geospatial data for long-term archival
By following the practices taught in this two-part webinar, your data will be less prone to error, more efficiently structured for your own analysis, and more readily understandable for any future questions that they might help address.
Target audience: Early career scientists (graduate students, post-docs), but is open to any researchers who would benefit from developing better data management skills.
