The ORNL DAAC announces the availability of three new net primary production (NPP) and two vegetation data sets. The NPP data sets contain data for temperate forests in the Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee, U.S.A., for 1978-1992 and in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California, U.S.A., for 1972-2001 as well as data for a tropical forest in Maui, Hawaii, for 1996-1997. The vegetation data set "Global Fire Emissions Database (GFED), Version 1" is a global data set containing gridded monthly fire emissions of carbon, CO2, CO, and CH4 for 1997-2001. The data set "Phenoregions for Monitoring Vegetation Responses to Climate Change" identifies the regions of the world best suited for long-term monitoring of biospheric response to climate change.
