Redesigned Web Sites

Submitted by ORNL DAAC Staff on

In an ongoing effort to improve services to our customers, the ORNL DAAC is pleased to announce that it has released a major revision to its Web site. The new site includes many enhancements aimed at helping users locate and obtain data and information. The menu bar allows users to navigate quickly to projects and services of interest and to access data through a variety of options. The new site incorporates a shopping cart that allows users to acquire data from several projects with one simple checkout process. The DAAC's Web site address remains unchanged (http://www.daac.ornl.gov), and, as always, our data are available free of charge.

The ORNL DAAC has also made major modifications to the FLUXNET and MODIS ASCII Subsets Web sites.

FLUXNET (http://www.fluxnet.ornl.gov/fluxnet/), a "network of regional networks," coordinates regional and global analysis of observations from micrometeorological tower sites. Exchanges of carbon dioxide, water vapor, and energy between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere are measured at over 250 tower sites on a long-term and continuous basis. The new organization provides easy access to FLUXNET information, reports, and graphics, and several ways to obtain flux data and site characterization data. In addition, we offer investigators several options to upload / edit FLUXNET data.

The MODIS ASCII Subsets Project (http://www.modis.ornl.gov/modis/) presents summaries of selected MODIS Land Products for validation of models and remote sensing products and to characterize field sites. The ASCII Subsets are pixel values of land products for a 7-km x 7-km area centered on flux towers or field sites from around the world. We offer several ways to search for the subsets, including a map server. Also, we provide data visualizations to view data before downloading.
