Southern African Data on CD-ROM

Submitted by ORNL DAAC Staff on

The ORNL DAAC has released a CD-ROM volume containing recent and historical environmental data from SAFARI 2000, the Southern African Regional Science Initiative.

SAFARI 2000 CD-ROM Series: Vol. 1 includes remote-sensing images from the Advanced Very High-Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) and the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) for key measurement sites and for the southern African region.

This two-disc volume also includes data sets of in situ atmospheric and meteorological measurements, as well as historical biogeochemical and biophysical data for the southern African region as extracted from existing global data sets.

The SAFARI 2000 project was conducted during 1999-2001 to develop a better understanding of the earth-atmosphere-human system in southern Africa.
