The ORNL DAAC announces the release of a data set prepared by Elisabeth Holland and colleagues titled "Global N Cycle: Fluxes and N2O Mixing Ratios Originating from Human Activity."

ORNL DAAC Newsletter Announced

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) is pleased to present this first installment of the ORNL DAAC Newsletter. We plan to include in this semiannual newsletter announcements of new data sets and services being offered to the public as well as news of other happenings and events. We welcome feedback. Send comments and suggestions to ornldaac@ornl.gov.

New Southern African Data

The ORNL DAAC announces the release of seven data sets for the Southern African Regional Science Initiative (SAFARI 2000).

Revision Summary:

More Southern African Data

The ORNL DAAC announces the release of nine data sets for the Southern African Regional Science Initiative (SAFARI 2000). These data sets, originally prepared in coordination with data investigators by the SAFARI 2000 Data Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, contain vegetation data and soil and plant C and N isotopes data for southern Africa; daily rainfall, leaf area, tree ring, FPAR, surface irradiance, and albedo data for sites in Mongu, Zambia; and soil properties, surface albedo, and radiation flux data from Mongu and Skukuza sites.

More Data for Southern Africa

The ORNL DAAC announces the release of six data sets for the Southern African Regional Science Initiative (SAFARI 2000). These data sets, originally prepared in coordination with data investigators by the SAFARI 2000 Data Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, contain stem, canopy, and vegetation cover data for sites along the Kalahari Transect; woody vegetation data for the Kalahari Transect and Skukuza; radiance data for Sua Pan and Skukuza sites; and surface spectral reflectance, leaf area index (LAI), and photosynthetically active radiation (fPar) data for sites in Sua Pan.

Southern African Data Released

The ORNL DAAC announces the release of seven data sets for the Southern African Regional Science Initiative (SAFARI 2000). These data sets, originally prepared in coordination with data investigators by the SAFARI 2000 Data Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, contain vegetation data, including leaf area index (LAI), leaf inclination angle, leaf spectral data, plant area index (PAI), and canopy structure data for sites along the Kalahari Transect in southern Africa. Also included are photographs that document vegetation structure for the sites visited.

VEMAP-2 Model Results Available

The ORNL DAAC announces the release of two data sets from Phase 2 of the Vegetation/Ecosystem Modeling and Analysis Project (VEMAP).
