MAPSS Version 1.0 Available

The ORNL NASA DAAC is please to announce the release of a new vegetation distribution model product, MAPSS: Mapped Atmosphere-Plant-Soil System Model, Version 1.0. The MAPSS model was developed by the Pacific Northwest Research Station USDA Forest Service and has been used extensively by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) in regional and global assessments of climate change impacts on vegetation.

New Mercury Advanced Search Tool

The ORNL NASA DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the new version of our Mercury Advanced Search tool. Mercury is a harvest, search, distribution, and data discovery system. From Mercury, you can search the ORNL DAAC's data holdings using:

  • free text,
  • fielded,
  • spatial, or
  • temporal parameters.

Mercury is now open source and service oriented architecture based. Many new features have been added, including:

Beta Test Available for MODIS Global Tool

The ORNL NASA DAAC announces the beta release of the MODIS Global Subsetting and Visualization Tool for Collection 5. This tool provides custom subsets of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Land products in ASCII format on demand for any location on Earth.

Beta Test Available for Advanced Search

The ORNL NASA DAAC is pleased to announce the public beta test release of the new version of our Mercury Advanced Search tool. Mercury is a harvest, search, distribution, and data discovery system. From Mercury, you can search the ORNL DAAC's data holdings through free text, fielded, spatial, and temporal capabilities. Mercury is now open source and service oriented architecture based. Some new features include: combined search results, filtering by logical groupings, dynamic sorting of search results, and book markable results.

5 LBA Data Sets Released

The ORNL DAAC announces the release of five data sets associated with the LBA-ECO component of the Large Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA).

The data set entitled "LBA-ECO LC-10 Landsat TM Data for Legal Amazon: 1986-1994" includes Landsat TM scenes from across the Legal Amazon region. A single image is provided for each spatial tile, representing the most cloud-free retrieval from 9/21/1986 to 9/17/1994. Provided files include one band-sequential (bsq) file and one metadata (ddr) file for each scene.

Summer 2007 Newsletter Released

NASA's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) is pleased to present the Summer 2007 issue of the ORNL DAAC Newsletter. This semiannual newsletter contains announcements of new data sets and services being offered to the public as well as news of other happenings and events. We welcome feedback.
