Daymet 2018 Data Now Available

Daymet provides high-resolution surface meteorology data for North America.

Daymet provides high-resolution surface meteorology data for North America. The figure shows annual data for the year 2018; Left: Mean maximum daily temperature, Middle: Total precipitation, Right: Mean minimum daily temperature. Daymet data is archived and distributed by the ORNL DAAC.

Daymet: Daily Surface Weather Data on a 1-km Grid for North America, Version 3

The popular Daymet Version 3 daily surface meteorology data have been updated to include all years 1980 - 2018 for continental North America, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. Daymet output variables include the following parameters: minimum temperature, maximum temperature, precipitation, shortwave radiation, vapor pressure, snow water equivalent, and day length.

Daymet data are provided as individual files, by variable and year, at a 1-km x 1-km spatial resolution and a daily temporal resolution. Data are in a Lambert Conformal Conic projection for North America and are distributed in a netCDF file (version 1.6) format compliant to Climate and Forecast (CF) metadata conventions. Access Daymet via THREDDS.

Goodness-of-fit information for Daymet is provided in: Station-Level Inputs and Model Predicted Values for North America, Version 3
