On November 1, 2022 the ORNL DAAC released Daymet Version 4 Revision 1 (V4 R1).  Daymet V4 R1 is an update that replaces all 2020 and 2021 files in all Daymet collections, including all access and distribution methods. The update is reflected in new dataset Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs; shown below) and dataset landing page locations. The Single Pixel Extraction Tool now provides the most current V4 R1 data. All other Daymet data files (1950-2019) in this V4 R1 distribution are unchanged from the V4 distribution and are included in the updated datasets.

The replacement of 2020 and 2021 files improved Daymet V4 model predictions especially in high-latitude, mostly Canadian, areas based solely on a new set of station inputs. The input data for the V4 data produced for January 2020 and January 2021 had a significant number of missing variable readings.  The missing readings have been verified by the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) who maintain the Global Historical Climatology Network daily (GHCNd). NCEI has corrected issues with the Environment Canada ingest feed which led to the missing readings and has built in more protections to prevent the loss of data.
